John BURDON - of Gorford
Very little is known of John
BURDON except that he was the father of Jane Burdon who was baptized in
Black Torrington, Devon, in 1718. Jane's baptism details, as transcribed by
FamilySearch, state that John was known as John Burdon or Gorford. This
might actually read as, or mean, John Burdon OF Gorford.
A property known as Gorford still exists today on the
edge of Black Torrington and this can be seen on Google StreetView
below.
